It’s WIAW hosted by Peas and Crayons and I thought I would share what has been making my lunch salads exciting lately.
We all know that hidden calories and hidden sugars and hidden -who knows what else because I can’t even pronounce it-in salad dressings. I am always experimenting with oil and vinegar and spices. But, recently I stumbled upon this. When you want the creamier salad taste, but with extra fiber, protein, and flavor then this is the salad dressing for you.
Depends on the size of your salad, but I mix:
- 1 tbs of hummus
- Squeeze one slice of lemon
- 2tbs of apple cider vinegar
- A dash of oregano, parsley, salt, and pepper.
Benefits of apple cider vinegar:
Natural Apple Cider Vinegar is a wonderful natural cure for a number of ailments which usually require antibiotics and other medications that have a number of side effects. In particular, Apple Cider Vinegar has been known to:
- Reduce sinus infections and sore throats
- Balance high cholesterol
- Cure skin conditions such as acne
- Protect against food poisoning
- Fight allergies in both humans and animals
- Prevent muscle fatigue after exercise
- Strengthen the immune system
- Increase stamina
- Increase metabolism which promotes weight loss
- Improve digestion and cure constipation
- Alleviate symptoms of arthritis and gout
- Prevents bladder stones and urinary tract infections (Source)
My only mistake right now is not using organic apple cider vinegar because I am using up a bottle that has been lying around the house.
The old dilemma of wasting the old and buying the new because the new is healthier? Or being frugal and using what was left before buying new and natural again?
What would you do–throw out and buy new or use what you have? I have a hard time throwing out food or letting it waste, I always use up first. I donate if it is unopened. Like a bag of white flour that I had forever. It was unopened so I donated it.
